Sri RamathIrtha, direct disciple of Sri Madhvacharya was the first yathi of this matha.Sri Madhvacharya presented  "Sri Narasimha" idol  to Sri Ramatirtha.In the lineage of Kaniyur Matha, Sri VidyavavArninidhi tIrtha is  29th, Yathi. and present pontiff Sri Vidyavallabha tIrtha, the 30th Yathi in the lineage, took ashrama in 1992.

Birthplace of Sri Madhvacharya, Pajaka kshetra comes under the jurisdiction of Sri Kaniyur Matha. Sri Vidyavallabha tIrtha studied nyaya and vedanta under the guidance of  Sri Sathayapramodha tIrtha of Uttaradhi Matha and  he studied nyayamurtha and Chandrika gramthas under the guidance of Sri Vishvesha tIrtha of  Pejawara Matha.
